About erich phillips

Erich Phillips is a retired U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 from the 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) with over 22 years of global operational experience. Serving as both an Airborne Platoon Sergeant and Special Forces Detachment Commander, Erich led elite teams through some of the most complex and high-risk missions the U.S. military undertakes — building the leadership instincts, strategic discipline, and decision-making frameworks that now define his consulting practice.

Erich is one of a small number of Special Forces veterans to hold both the Distinguished Service Cross and the Silver Star — the nation's second and third highest military decorations for valor — awarded for his actions during operations in Afghanistan in 2008.

He was recognized for leadership excellence at the SF Qualification Course (Class 07-10) in 2011 and received the Special Forces Saint Philip Neri Medal in 2022.

Since retiring, Erich has continued applying his skills in demanding operational environments — including Executive Protection assignments, serving as Site Lead for F3EA programs in Belize, and managing complex contracts for Delta Fuego Global in Northeast Africa. His post-military career is not a pivot away from high-stakes work. It is a continuation of it.

Erich holds a Bachelor of Science in National Security from Excelsior College. He is also President of Operations at Honor Box Studios, a veteran-led company that creates custom commemorative pieces honoring service members' careers. He lives on the Costa Brava, Spain with his wife and two children, and consults with organizations worldwide.

Beyond the Battlefield is his mission: to equip leaders and organizations with the mindset, strategies, and tools to perform at their highest level — no matter the environment.

When failure is not an option: leadership under pressure

What does it actually look like to lead when the cost of failure is measured in lives?

Erich draws on 22 years of Special Forces operations — including the actions that earned him the Distinguished Service Cross and Silver Star — to deliver a visceral, practical framework for leading under extreme pressure.Attendees leave with specific tools for decision-making in ambiguity, team accountability, and mission clarity.

Best for: Corporate leadership events, military organizations, executive retreats.

the mission-first mindset: special forces strategy for business leaders

Elite Special Forces teams don't succeed by accident.

They operate using a disciplined system of planning, communication, and adaptive execution that most organizations never develop. Erich breaks down the core SF operational framework — mission clarity, risk assessment, decision authority, and after-action review — and translates it directly into tools your team can implement the next day.

Best for: Corporate strategy teams, operations leaders, high-growth companies.

the long game: building resilience that holds when everything is on the line

Resilience is not about toughness. It's about systems.

Erich spent 22 years watching teams succeed and fail in the world's most demanding environments — and the difference was never physical. It was the mental architecture of the people in the room. This talk covers how to build personal and organizational resilience that performs under sustained stress, not just in the crisis moment.

Best for: Leadership conferences, veteran organizations, wellness-focused corporate events.
